Just like every athlete, each Nathan pak is unique and designed to be the best. We've found that the blueprint for the ideal hydration system is based on four guiding principles:
1. Ensure a bounce-free ride;
2. Make access to fluids and fuel intuitive;
3. Be creative when offering capacity;
4. Design methods of speeding up delivery of fluids and fuel.

Just like every athlete, each Nathan pak is unique and designed to be the best. We've found that the blueprint for the ideal hydration system is based on four guiding principles:
1. Ensure a bounce-free ride;
2. Make access to fluids and fuel intuitive;
3. Be creative when offering capacity;
4. Design methods of speeding up delivery of fluids and fuel.
BOUNCE-FREE RIDE
An athlete will never get the benefit of a hydration pack that is too uncomfortable or performance-diminishing to wear. To ensure Nathan paks do not fall into this category, we start by creating a bounce-free ride. First, we employ 70/30 BOTTLE POSITIONING – 70% of the bottle falls below the belt – so that gravity will help minimize flopping.
Second, we use LIMITED-STRETCH BELTS, which stretch just 20%, enough for comfortable breathing while remaining incredibly stable. The TITANIUM BELT™ is just as it sounds: lightweight and tough. The limited stretch allows comfortable breathing without sacrificing stability at all effort levels. The unique open construction allows heat to dissipate and prevents chafing.
THE PROPULSION HARNESS™, simply put, moves with you. Unlike traditional shoulder straps,
the patent-pending Propulsion Harness system articulates as your torso rotates during activity, preventing the pak from riding up or swaying back and forth. And, thanks to two inches of frictionless travel, from both the 2-way and 3-way configurations, each shoulder strap moves independently, putting every ounce of energy to work propelling you toward the finish line.
Just as the Propulsion Harness reinvented the way bladder packs achieve stability, Nathan’s VEST TECHNOLOGY reinvents the bladder pack itself. Instead of compression, Nathan Race Vests and Bike Vests utilize a system of balanced weight distribution which eliminates pressure points at shoulders. Meant to be worn a little loose, it feels more like a hug than a weight on your back, resulting in the most comfortable way to carry fluids for extended exertion.
Designed to remain comfortable during 100-mile runs, Nathan paks use technical, high-quality fabrics, such as WALL MESH™, AIRMESH™, and HONEYCOMB MESH™, to add comfort, prevent chafing, and dissipate heat.

INTUITIVE ACCESS
Even the most comfortable pack does little good if drinking requires stopping, breaking stride, or moving the pack. Access to fluids must be easy, intuitive, and non-disruptive to movement.
A Nathan exclusive, the XTS CRADLE™ (patent pending) flexes to the contours of the body and holds the Hydration Bottle securely in place. The wide-mouth holster makes bottle removal and replacement intuitive and lightning-quick.
Only the Nathan Speed Series utilizes MOLDED HOLSTERS, allowing quick ONE-HANDED removal and replacement of Nutrition Flasks. Silicone Grips keep Flasks securely in place and eliminate the need for retainer bands.
With the AUTO-CANT DISK™, Nathan introduces the first pak to adjust to an athlete's body. It adapts for the easiest access and ideal fit based on both the athlete's body and the pak's placement on the body.

CREATIVE CAPACITY
Athletes need more than just fluids, so we challenge ourselves to develop creative ways of carrying necessities such as energy food, headlamps, cell phones, and tablets while keeping our paks light and our footprint small. Our VEST TECHNOLOGY incorporates pockets on the front of the shoulder straps, not only for easy access, but also to act as a counterbalance to the weight of the pak.

Our POWER STRETCH MESH pockets were inspired by bike jerseys, and will hold variably sized objects securely. Paks like the Speed 4R incorporate “closure-free” access, for the quickest way of getting to your small essentials.
We also incorporate SHOCK CORDS as often as possible. They securely hold gels, jackets, gloves, and sunglasses, but have almost zero weight when empty.
SPEEDY DELIVERY
We saw no need to stop development at the pak level. We took a look at the Bottles, Flasks, and Bladders and found there was plenty of room for improvement.
Our BPA-free, dishwaher-safe HYDRATION BOTTLES and FLASKS are made of soft, squeezable, low-density polyethylene and offer quick bursts or an even flow of fluids. All are water filter-compatible. Our QUICKCLIP™ (patent pending) allows you to easily attach the bottle to a pak or belt and features a fingerloop and an offset nozzle that makes it easy to drink every precious ounce of fluid. Our CLIPLESS CAP features internal channels to direct fluids and eliminate the need to tip the bottle completely upside down for the last of your drink. Our FREEZE-FREE CAP™ is the perfect solution for cold weather. The protective flip-top cap is easily opened, even with gloved hands, and the high-flow nozzle and silicone cork prevent freezing.
Our new RACE CAP™ was designed specifically for gel consumption and features a high-flow, one-way valve that opens and closes automatically and offers a quick shot of gel–no need for intense squeezing or sucking.
